Roadtrip (6)! - University of Waterloo Winter 2011 Lecture Series

You completely thought I was going to skip on University of Waterloo School of Architecture during my "Somewhat Near to Cleveland Architecture School Lecture Tour" didn't ya? Well, that isn't possible. Yet another school slated for a quick sneak peek (especially since they recently moved to their new digs). "Why do you like to visit other schools?" you ask? Because I like to learn. There, I said it. And I like myself still too (not as much as I like architecture lecture series posters for my blog posts).

WINTER 2011 ARRISCRAFT LECTURE SERIES

All lectures will take place in the Main Lecture Hall at the School of Architecture in Cambridge at 6:30 pm. Admission is free and open to the public.

2011 Ohio Brownfield Conference Presentations

A myriad of topics were apparently covered at the recent 2011 Brownfield Conference. They have recently been posted online for your enjoyment.

There looks to be some good stuff in there, case studies, media relation discussions, funding info, etc.

Thank you Ohio Division of Emergency and Remedial Response (which keeps me really well updated on Brownfield discussions, funding and other going-ons).

Roadtrip (5) - Ryerson University Spring 2011 Lectures

I am totally on a Canada bend this week. I need to start planning my next trek over the border and hoping it may align with taking in a lecture at Ryerson University's Department of Architectural Science. Get those passports ready! I didn't get to visit Ryerson last time I was in Toronto, I hope to rectify that very soon.

Metroparks Planning Meetings need bicyclists' input

from Century Cycles blog

"The Cleveland Area Mountain Bike Association has put the Northeast Ohio bicycling and outdoors communities on high alert with this message on their website:

The Cleveland Metropaparks has embarked on a master planning effort and they are seeking public input to determine their priorities and directions for the next decade. While the park always must strike a balance with conservation and public use, they are currently willing to re-examine this balance.

This is OUR CHANCE as the active community to tell the parks what we think! Wish we had MORE outdoor recreation in the Metroparks? More cycling/running races and events? Maybe camping, backpacking, rock climbing, xcountry skiing, MOUNTAIN BIKING?? It’s time to ask!

Please make time to attend one of these meetings and express your thoughts.

Tuesday, January 25- 6:30 to 8:30pm- Rocky River Nature Center

Wednesday, January 26- 6:30 to 8:30pm- Canalway Center

Thursday, January 27- 6:30 to 8:30pm- North Chagrin Nature Center

For more information, call 216-655-3200 or visit Cleveland Metroparks.com

Don't know what to say once you get there? CAMBA has helpfully provided these talking points."
